Summer Ultimate Camp Recap

ultimate summer campIn it’s 5th year running, Bay Area Disc Association Ultimate summer camps give boys and girls ages 8 to 14 the opportunity to play, learn and have fun! Bay Area Disc Association Youth Director Valerio Iani works with our elite coaching staff, including Fury’s Maggie Ruden, to design programs aimed at teaching beginners the basics of the sport and more experienced participants advanced concepts. The camps foster skills development and provide all participants with a better understanding of the sport, sportsmanship and Spirit of the Game.

Bay Area Disc Association runs five sessions around the Bay Area. Three sessions are in the books and saw plenty of highlights:

  • June 17-21 Berkeley session enjoyed a record 45 participants
  • July 1-5 Berkeley session ran the 4th of July Red, White and Blue tournament — a parent and youth mixed tournament
  • July 15-19 San Mateo session welcomed special guest The Break Side — an initiative that seeks out major hubs of Ultimate to show how easy it is to connect with other players in the Ultimate community and shares the experiences made through these connections. The Break Side created a short video showcasing the San Mateo summer camp.
  • July 29 – Aug 2 San Francisco session was held at a new location — Golden Gate Park

Parents reported glowing reviews from these sessions. One review came from parent Nina Mulia. She commented,”My son (Pele) just loves this sport, more than any other he has played previously.” Check out the photos from past sessions!

There is still time to register for the Aug 12-16 Marin session held at Marin Country Day School. The session runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
